... I've been using the Cagic 8 digital frame for more than a month now. Having used others (Philips, Kodak, Pandigital among them) I was a bit jaded, and perhaps my expectations were low for all digital frames.
Cagic cured that. Let's start with the basics: it works - perfectly. No bells and whistles, no complicated menus. You turn it on, it shows your pictures, period. Go to the next one? Just touch the matting on the right. Previous? Touch on the left. Loading pictures? Just stick your memory card in and it pulls all the pictures in, scales them for the frame and tells you to take the card out. That's it. Could not be easier.
In terms of styling, there's nothing that holds a candle to it... how could there be? They use solid brushed aluminum and a 2 inch thick natural wood frame. The frame is so solid it is almost confusing at first... it looks and feels like a nice piece of furniture, not a digital frame. No plastic, no ugly doors or things sticking out... just a metal dome on the back with a support and a beautiful wood frame on the front. Quite literally everything else out on the market is some mix of plastic and acrylic... Cagic went the other way.
The bad: not much. It doesn't do audio and doesn't play video. If you want to use your digital frame to watch TV or listen to music, this won't work. If you're like 99% of the other people who just want it to display pictures, this is the one. Also, no WiFi. I'm mixed on that. What I've seen of WiFi on frames is so confusing and laden with layers, that I'd love for it to be easy. It appears Cagic just opted out of WiFi for now (though an e-mail to customer service got a quick response stating "don't be surprised to see an upgrade in the near future" for WiFi when I suggested it).
In short, if you want something that looks nice and just works, with no thought involved, this is it. I ordered a 2nd one for my office after using this one for a while.

I read up on the service, which is exactly what I needed to deliver pictures to my technophobe mother who has vowed never to own a computer. I won't go into all of that though, Ceiva fits those needs perfectly.
What I was _really_ concerned with is if my mother could get it up and running without me there. She needs step-by-step instructions for the DVD player. It turns out that I can just setup the account online and all she has to do is hold down the button on back. SAHWEET! I imagined a blood pressure raising IT support session with my mother, but it couldn't be any different. She had her first batch of forty pictures in moments and proclaims it's the best gift ever.
The frame/service has been in use for over three months now. No hiccups and no printing digital photos for Mom! Mission accomplished.
For Mac users the iPhoto plugin rocks. It works with iPhoto 09 and couldn't be easier. Select photos, File > Export and they're on their way if you cache preferences. The only wishes, for now, would be a sent history and upload 'cart' system. Add to the cart and upload all at once rather than pick through a few and upload.
I would buy Ceiva's service/frames in the future and recommend them to friends in my situation. The price of the service is right up there with a PPP internet connection, but printing, time and blood pressure meds cost money too ;) ...

2. The support is absolutely abysmal. Every contact I"ve had with support has been bad. For example, the battery went out on one of my frames. I called Philips support on 05/22/2008 for a replacement battery. They stated they don't sell the battery, but I could send in my otherwise perfectly good unit for an exchange refurbished unit. I then noted that they'd just replace the battery and resell, in other words, they're selling batteries for $125! Complete rip off. They had no reply other than that was the only option
Never again will I buy any Philips product.

... I don't have any previous experience with digital photo frames, but this one was pretty easy to load images on. I recently purchased this frame as an anniversary gift for my in-laws. We went ahead and uploaded some family photos on it so it would be ready to go when they got it. I did have some trouble initially getting the images on my SD card to play on the frame, but then I formatted my SD card on my computer, and saved them on the card again. After that, playing them on the phone was easy. There were several buttons to push to save them internally on the frame, but the instructions are pretty clear. I saved the images one at a time though, which took longer. Afterward, I figured out that I could have probably saved all the images internally at one time. I uploaded about 40 pictures, because thats all family photos I had. The product information says it will hold about 45. The only thing I was disappointed by was that the frame says its compatible with MP3 and JPEG files. However, only the JPEG images can be saved internally. The only way to play MP3s is to save them on the SD card and leave it in the frame. At least that was all I could do. The instructions tell you how to save pictures internally, and how to use external media to play JPEG and MP3 files. But no where does it say how to load MP3 files internally. However, overall, I was very happy with our purchase. The picture quality was excellent, even with the old family photos that I had to scan in order to upload. - Screen is nice, 4:3 ratio, photos look decent, if not great;
- Tech support (by mail) actually answers next day;
- Support WPA/WPA2 and even AES;
- Even plays back video files, nice features;
- Framechannel / Flikr / PicasaWeb support;
Cons:
- Fancy touch sensitive areas can not be seen once backlight times out, easy to press the wrong button accidentally, or just plain press a button when one tries to move the frame. Very annoying;
- Only 802.11b hardware, no support for 802.11g;
- No support for any other RSS source other than those above;
- No support for fixed IP, no wired Ethernet port - if you have troubles with the wireless, you are out of luck;
- Entering wireless key is quite slow/complex, definitely not for the faint-hearted. Although once entered, the unit will remember it even if you turn it off (good);
- Too many functionality means many layers of menus - again, not grandma friendly;
- Rebate was impossible to get;
Overall: Due to the invisible touch areas this is not really grandma friendly. As a standalone picture frame it works nice, but as a wireless frame watching feed(s) I run into troubles with it. Although that could be due to my (complex) home network, there is not much I can do about it. It either works for you or you can forget about it.

I was really excited about setting it up on my desk at work until I loaded a bunch of photos and realized the aspect ratio of the screen is different than the aspect ratio of my photos. The screen is around 16:9, whereas my photos are all 6:4. The result was that the photo frame either pushed the tops and bottoms of each photo off-screen, or else I was left with black bars on either side (depending on the picture size option you choose in the setup menu).

... I bought this digital frame for my girlfriend for this Christmas. I resized a copy of all our pictures to 800x600 with a batch resizer and copied them to a 1GB SD card. I had about 5500 pictures on the card in different folders. When I started the unit it seemed to see only 2000 pictures instead of the 5500 I had put in.
I started the slideshow and it immediately hung. No button would respond to any command. I rebooted the unit but the slideshow would never start.
I deleted some pictures. Even with the number of pictures down to 2000 the slideshow would hang the unit.
I was finally able to make the slideshow work by deleting more, it seems to hang whenever you put above 1600 pictures in the memory. This is a big deception because I expected my picture frame to be able hold much more. With a tool I changed all folders and file names to a small number of characters because I though the long file names were causing the error, but it didn't help. This limitation was nowhere mentionned on the box, the manual or the website.
I emailed ViewSonic about this issue but got no answer at the time of writing this review.
I tried to send pictures in the internal memory, but the OS showed it would take me two hours to copy 150 megs so I immediately cancelled. This is so slow I would consider the internal memory unusable.
Unless Viewsonic tells me there is a new firmware available now (or very soon) that fixes the maximum number of pictures problems I will return the unit to the shop.
The other problem is the unit wont start the slideshow by itself. I would have liked to put it on a timer to it starts automatically every day when we sit at the dining table. There is no option to automatically start the slideshow when the unit boots.
The good thing about this unit is the nice design with glossy finish and futuristic look. Also the image quality is very good, but keep in mind this is 800x600 so it is nowhere near today's laptop screens resolutions so there are much less details.
Bottom line, avoid this product unless a new firmware comes out with fixes and new options.
