We purchased this for a Christmas present. Thankfully we tried it out. The picture distortion was unacceptable. I know 7" frames do distort the photo but the level of distortion was more than expected on this frame. I have a 7" frame (different brand) and the distortion is barely noticable. On this Quantaray frame everything looks shorter and wider.
I measured both frames and the frame I currently use measures exactly 7" diagonally, this Quantaray frame measures less than 7" - I guess that's why the distortion is worse.

I bought this digital frame and a Kodak EasyShare frame. I returned the Kodak EasyShare frame. The eMotion frame took me less than 15 minutes to configure and less than an hour to load some family pictures and an MP3 to play along.
As with most digital picture frames the image quality is not great but it's value is seeing the slide show.

There is almost nothing worthwhile about this frame.
Its user interface is difficult. The frame requires a firmware update to resize pictures to the correct aspect ratio.
Its screen is painfully low-resolution (360x480), so pictures look bad when viewed from closer than a few feet. But the screen is small enough that you can't view pictures from farther away.
Even if you resize your pictures to that small size, its internal memory won't accept more than 238 files. The memory isn't full; for some reason it just won't take more files, leaving more than 200MB of internal memory unusable.

There are some limitations with this product that has forced me to return it.
The user interface is a little quirky. Definitely need the manual, but the manual is sparse. For example, I could not find any mention of how to turn off the alarm until the next day (found by trial that it is the "menu/exit" button).
Although the frame is advertised as having a 6" screen, the photo viewing area is only 4.25" in photo mode. When in clock mode, the photo is about 2.5". You have to be fairly close to see the images well. The screen has the typical graininess of frames in this price range.
The backup battery didn't seem to work reliably. After setting the clock, I unplugged the frame to move it to a different room and the time and date were incorrect when I plugged it back in. When I tried this again a second time, it seemed to work. I am not sure if this is just a defect with my unit.
The presets for the radio are not intuitive. You can scan the available stations, and it automatically sets the first 40 it finds. Even if it finds some station with static, it will program it in as a preset. The manual seems to indicate there's some way to program your own presets, but I was unable to figure out how to do that after trying for a couple of minutes. The presets are not protected by the battery backup, according to the manual.
You can set the alarm to sound only on certain days of the week. The radio reception seemed fine. The speakers were adequate for a clock radio. The PC software is apparently stored on the frame, but I did not try it.
There are 4 brightness settings, including "off", in an attempt to reduce the annoyance of the screen shining on your face while you sleep. The "snooze/brighness" button controls this. Some people may find even the lowest setting a bit too bright, so you may have to turn the screen away and turn it back to look at the time in the night. As the pictures transition, it may disturb some users. What would have been a better design would be to have a mode where only the time shows on a black background to minimize the light output, and maybe even more brightness settings than 4.
Maybe the next revision will address these issues. This one's going back.

We bought this item for our elderly parents last Christmas, and were initially very happy with our purchase. In August, it stopped working completely; we called CTA and they said it would be fixed under warranty and gave us a RMA number. We returned it in September; it is now November and we have heard NOTHING - they don't respond to EMAILs, and no one answers their phone. So this is just money flushed down the toilet. Find a more reputable manufacturer, DON'T get stuck with this one!

If you are looking for the finest screen resolution and most faithful color reproduction, keep looking. On the other hand, if you want an economical digital photo frame with adequate screen resolution and acceptable color reproduction, find this gem on sale and you'll be pleased.
The 320 x 234 screen is on the coarse side and if you stare at each individual photograph, you will see that it is coarse. On the other hand, if you're like me (and I suspect most people) and just glance at it occasionally, you won't notice the coarseness. The viewing angle is quite acceptable.
Color reproduction is good, but definitely not absolutely perfect. Again, not much difference here between what you see in most paper prints that haven't been processed in a photo manipulation program.
For best results, spend some time resizing the photos to 320 x 234 and run them through a color correction program. Resizing will also let you put many more photos onto even a small SD card. On a 2GB SD card, with resized photos, you should be able to put more than a thousand photos on it. Now that's quite a slide show, isn't it?
This unit has no frills. There are buttons to pause, go back, go forward, change aspect ratio and go into "power saving mode". It is a bit of a pain to deal with them and I doubt that many people will.
Personally, I just load a card with processed photos, put the unit on a shelf, plug it in and let it run. For those content with the smallish 5.6" screen, somewhat coarse resolution and merely acceptable color quality, this unit is more than adequate and a very good value if you get it on sale or heavily discounted.

My mother is sooo hard to buy for...this is one of the best gifts I've given her! She shows everyone that vists!
Very easy for her to use (she is over 60)...she pulls the flash card out of her camera and pops in the frame....no waiting for prints!

This is a high-definition display, so your photos will look really great. But among others, four things I didn't like in this products: (i) you need to go though the menus to start a slideshow, meaning that it is not just to turn it on to have your images coming - forget it if you are planing to give it to your mother...; (ii) you cannot program it to switch on and off at desired times, a feature that you can find in other competing products (like Kodak, for example) and very useful; (iii) it does not display the images at random, but sequentially; (iv) Additionally, if you have a MacIntosh computer, the wi-fi will not work, since it only gets connected to PCs.
I wouldn't recommend it.

It really does NOT work.
On yesterday I purchased my second one because the first one did not work. With my first pandigial 1.8 - I left it connected to the computer for a week in hopes it would charge. That never happened!!! Low and Behold & guess what???... the same thing occurred with the second Pandigital 1.8. To be on the safe side, earlier today I called customer service to confirm the time it should take to charge. He shared it should take 8 hours. (Note: The manual does NOT tell you HOW to charge it or HOW LONG.) 10 hours later, I'm checking the device. After unplugging it from the CPU, the LED shows - or rather flashes - low batteries and turns off. JUST LIKE THE FIRST ONE. What are the odds??.. Purchased at two different store and same issue with both.
I called customer service again and talked to the same person I had spoken with earlier today. All he could recommend is I return the product back to the store I had gotten it from to exchange it. I asked for the return rate/review from customer service and he acted as if he didn't have a clue or a technical support department.
The products looks good and features sound promising but it's not worth the trouble of having it. I've tried it for my husband Chrismas gift and now again as a father's day gift. If you need a small pocket digital photo, go with the wallet pics... I gave that on to a close friend and it still works after 7 months.
DON'T BE FULL BY THE HYPE!!!

Just got this Digital Photo Frame. The frame looks very nice, the price is good, it is my first digital photo frame, the only disappointment is the resolution. I thought that the picture quality would be at least as good as they look on my seven year old computer monitor. They're not. If I had it to do over I would get a frame with a higher resolution.

This is the worst disappointment to discover that the picture frame, unlike most that we could have bought instead simply does not work without "activating" it. That is, you stick in your memory card, but then nothing happens, unless you subscribe to a service over internet, phone, whatever. This way you could activate a card reader that you have already paid for. This was not at all our intention when we purchased this product as the package makes no mention of such "bundling". Now I am stuck with a gift that was returned to us from a grandmother, who could not make it work. Neither could I. I will try returning it to where we bought it and do my best to warn others about this rip off.

The sound quality is OK, not great. Picture quality is great (max 640x480). It's really easy to use.
One of my units were not working properly and they exchanged it immediately no questions asked.

I tried to upload from ten to 50 images at a time. Each was circa 16Kb, with dimensions of 295 pixels wide by 400 pixels high. (Portrait orientation.)
It appears that this frame accepts some jpegs, but not others. However, documentation makes no allusion to what distinctions the frame is making when it receives uploaded jpeg images. Unless you're into hours of "well let's try this and see if it works," skip this product.

The product looks great aside from the hole in the front for the remote control. Comes with 2 frames: Clear and Black. Everything looks great except for its actual purpose...DISPLAYING PICTURES. It is so pixelated that it gets really annoying. I tried resizing the pictures and it made the picture look better, but still the images were pixelated. I purchased a Kodak frame before and I was much happier.

I bought this GiiNii 5" frame for my wife's office. Every day, the slideshow starts normally, but sometime during the day it randomly freezes on a picture. At this point, no controls work and the unit must be unplugged and plugged in again before it will respond. This makes the frame more trouble than it is worth. I'm returning it to Walmart.
In addition, the memory card doesn't seat well. We're using it with an xD memory card. It took many retries (8-10) to get the frame to first recognize the card. Once it was in things seem fine, but what will happen when we swap for a new set of pictures?

For a 5.6" frame this product takes the cake. I researched a lot of frames to purchase as a Christmas gift and I settled on this one. It is 800x600, 4:3 ratio, not those annoying widescreen ones that resize your photos. Westinghouse is a great brand. Furthermore you get PC interaction with a USB cable (not included) so it's really easy to use. There is 8 MB of onboard memory to use, which can be a lot of 800x600 pictures. If you're not tech-inclined you probably shouldn't be considering digital frames anyways. If you are, this is a no brainer. Get this frame.

This review is not about the product. We have two first generation Ceiva frames that still work. The technical model of managing pictures in a frame at a location that has power and telephone but no Internet connection is unique and works well.
This review is about Ceiva, the company.
We purchased these frames as charter subscribers from Ceiva when they were a fledgling company. As a promotion, we paid 3 times the annual rate for lifetime subscriptions. This was a good deal for us and good word of mouth advertising for Ceiva. The promotion was only offered for a few months, limiting Ceiva's financial liability.
In the intervening years, Ceiva posted a policy on their site defining "lifetime" as the life of the device or seven years. This limitation was not disclosed in the original offer and the only email I have received from them has been monthly newsletters: a marketing brochure.
When I noticed our lifetime subscriptions soon expire, I contacted their customer support. After working my way up to the manager of customer service, he denied my request to honor the original deal. He did offer me a discount on buying new, current product. In other words, he tried to turn a significant customer service incident into a sales opportunity.
The product provides a unique solution but considering the subscription cost, it is very expensive. Since it would have cost Ceiva so little to honor the few lifetime subscribers they have, I can only infer that their business model is not working and they are desperate for new revenue. Since the product relies on the services Ceiva provides later, my recommendation is to steer away from this company.
Instead, buy another product; spend a dollar a month and mail grandma an SD card. She can learn to change it.

The people giving 1 star do in fact have a bad frame. It happened to me also , I got one as a gift the pic quality was awful and the whole drive recognition issue. then i went back to Macy's and exchanged it. This is really excellent frame and all if you get one from the "good" run. if you want to know if you got a good frame look at the electrical plug: if its 5V its crap if its 9V its $$$. Truly i would have written a terrible review for this unless i exchanged it. Trust me for the $ this is an awesome frame just make sure you get one from a good batch/run.

I just bought one and proceeded to try to use my iPod Classic (6th gen). It did not work at all. I happened to have a 5th gen video which does work. I am pretty displeased with this, since the iPod compatibility was never discussed in any literature related to this item. The descriptions just say "iPod" and all iPods are not created equal. I suspect it does NOT work with iTouch, as it is a 2007 technology item.
I am going to return this and get a small portable TV which is cheaper and will have better sound and compatibility with iPod (once you get the cables that go from the headphone jack to video input on the TV).
Regarding the sound, if you were going to use this to watch videos from your iPod, you would want decent sound. The sound which comes out of this frame is not very good.
Also, the frame is small! 7 inches on diagonal is too small to do much good.

I was given this as a gift for Mother's Day, and by Chrsitmas the display was on the fritz. Of course, it is now a month past warranty coverage.....I agree with the other reviews that the mosaic view doesn't do much to enhance the product- pictures were just too small. I don't think I'll replace this one....just not worth the money. I purchased this for someone as a 2007 Christmas gift. Also bought a 1 Gig SD card for it. Keep in mind, I thought I was purchasing a higher end/ high quality unit. There are some much cheaper ones out there.
At Christmas, we took approximately 30 pictures and immediately but them on the SD card and inserted it in the picture frame SD slot. The pictures will cycle through as a slideshow one time only and will not repeat. There is a menu option to have the slideshow repeat, but it will not do it from the SD card. Annoying!
I then put as many pictures as possible in the internal memory (only 8 high quality pictures) and the slideshow worked just fine. The instructions offer no help. Perhaps the size of the SD card is limited with the frame, but again, the manual does not have a specification for it. I spent about 2 hours messing with this thing. So, in summary:
MY ISSUES:
1. Instructions do not tell you the specifications of the frame. What is the size of the internal memory? What size SD cards are acceptable? What size/quality should pictures be?
2. The slideshow does not run properly from a card placed in the SD slot.
3. Power cord does not fit tightly and any movement of the frame will cause it to become unplugged.
4. Frame should have an auto dimmer that slightly adjusts to conditions in the room. The brightness will hurt your eyes if your stare at it.
POSITIVE:
1. Attractive. Stainless steel, modern look.
2. Motion sensor works fine.
Hope this helps.
