There are better options for Digital Picture frames than Memory Frame.
For starters - the picture isn't great. The user's manual is not helpful at all. There's no internal memory for photos. I could plug a flash drive in, but couldn't figure out how to use the flash card that was included. My computer wouldn't recognize it when I plugged it to try to load it.
Too much hassle to try to figure it out and in the end the picture quality was poor.
I bought a SmartParts 8" digital picture frame instead. LOVE it. So easy to use. Great picture. A manual that's actually helpful.

I got a few of these at 1/5th the list price, and even at that price it's a rip off. The animations are supposed to turn off, but what happens is the unit scrolls through 15 or 20 pictures, then it resets as if you unplugged the power, sits there for a while with a "Loading..." prompt, and plays displays your pictures with cartoon characters scrolling across the screen. There is no support or software updates for it from the manufacturers website either. Buyer beware.

Fault #1: It comes with a remote. For some things you have to use the remote, for others you need to use the buttons on top of the frame.
Fault #2: It has 4MB of internal memory. If you save photos at low resolution (and these screens have low resolution to begin with) you should be able to squeeze a bunch of photos onto the internal memory. Yet the specs only allow you to store 5(!) photos on the internal memory.
Fault #3: It plays music, both WMAs and MP3s. Yet if you want to run a slideshow and play music at the same time you can only do that with MP3s, not WMAs.
Fault #4: The biggest problem is figuring out how to get photos to fill up the whole screen and not look distorted. I haven't figured this out yet. I've tried cropping my photos 16:9 and 4:3 and saving them at different resolutions but I can't get them to fill up the whole screen without stretching them.

Got this Black Friday 07 and for what was paid I couldn't complain. Descent pics, simple set up, even put a movie on there once just to see the performance. But alas just a little over a year later the frame went black!! Messed with it a little bit and finally threw it in a drawer. I recently discovered it again and tried plugging it in....And low and behold it works....For just a couple minutes at a time that is!! When I do get it to work I notice that the image quality has degraded (as others
have stated) and there is a crackling/buzzing sound heard every once and awhile. A quick search of the web and I've also found what others have found, absolutely no contact info for Astar what so ever. Even if you find this on sale or clearance save your money!!! I can't stress enough...SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Not only will this product eventually die but with the crackling/buzzing I'm hearing I would be afraid of something electrical that could build into a fire hazard!!!!

I didn't test it with music or video, only pictures. It works well enough for what I want it to do.
The screen resolution is 640x480. I don't think its stated on Amazon product page.
Pro:
1. Screen is sharp and color reproduction is good if the source image has the right resolution (see belows).
2. Hardware is easy to setup, default setting works well.
3. Remote works well for accessing different features of the frame. Brightness/Color adjust only available from the control buttons on the frame itself.
4. It looks like a photo frame with the wooden border, and doesn't look like a gadget sitting on your desk.
Con:
1. I tried some 7MP (3072x2304) pictures and they show up very bury. I have to convert all my pictures down to 1024x768 or 640x480 on the computer first. Picture looks pretty good after that. Upside is you can put tons of small pictures on an old card. I use a very old 128M SM card, and it take ~20M for 100 pictures.
2. On slide show mode, there is no option to randomize the order.
3. It is capable of multiple level of zooming (it doesn't display the multiplier) but consider the source need to be low resolution, it is not very useful.
What could make it better:
1. It comes with a fairly small ac/dc converter, it would be nice if it is inside the body.
2. Media reader is located at bottom of the frame when its orientated in landscape mode. They ought to be on the right side of the frame where the control buttons are located. Not an issue if you put yours in portrait mode where both the controls and media reader would be accessible.

Although I don't have the same complaints as many others regarding the quality of the pictures, my issue is with the amount of time it takes to turn this thing on. No less than 18 minutes from the time we hit 'power' on the remote until the display turns on. This just can't be right. I'm taking it back tomorrow.

I bought this one from Fry's because it has the same walnut wood frame as my kitchen cabinet. The documentation didn't say much about resolution of it, but so far it works out of the box with my SanDisk 2 GB SD card. Because of the wide screen it is best to only view pictures in Landscape mode, so far the resolution of pictures look pretty impressive to me.

i bought this for my grandmother and loaded all of her family album pictures that she hadnt looked at in years onto a memory card and popped it in, pushed 2 or 3 buttons and wala!! Very easy to operate,comes with ac cord so it doesn't run off batteries so she let it run all the time. She loved it, cried when i gave it to her, she recently passed away and now my mother has it and uses it as well. It tends to get hot if left on constantly though,might not be good for the inside parts to stay hot all the time.

It is an excellent presentation to our wedding day for my customers at my barber shop. The real bonus is that I don't have to carry a wedding album around and bore people with it. The Ceiva 3 was a Christmas closeout marketed as gifts to grandmas and service men. I was the unluckly recipient. Although tech savvy, it has taken three - four weeks of their technicians coding in Dos, three to four technicians at my end also coding in Dos and setting NetGear settings to no avail. We are still working on it now with their top customer service and tech people trying to get the wireless to connect. the Analog teleohone system method worked fine and easy. But, the wireless method has been a nightmare. We have invested almost $100 extra in adapters for both the phone and wireless. Plus hours of time and effort. Luckily, Ceiva no longer carries this product, but should not have been selling a faulty product at Christmas time at the expense of grandmas and service men.

Decent frame for the price - although I would have preferred the wood frame version. I bought two of these for parents and in-laws as a Christmas gift and opened them up to load some wedding and grandbabby pictures.
I was having hard time getting the frame to turn on and stay on and thought they were defective.
Here's the trick. To turn on the frame you must click (or double click) the power button very quickly - like a mouse click. If you linger on that button at all it will either never turn on, or turn on and then off again.
Quickly clicking is the key....

This is the first time I've ever written a product review, but I would love to save other people time and money. I purchased this as a gift for someone, and have spent way too much time trying to get it to work. The first frame came with a faulty battery in the remote. When we replaced the battery, the remote & frame worked for about 3 days. After that, it stopped reading any kind of memory card. We exchanged the frame for a new one, which also came with a faulty remote. We tried buying a new battery for it and it still wouldn't work, so frame #2 is being returned. Save your money.

This frame is tiny, the resolution is terrible, and it takes about 4 or 5 tries to get it to see the memory card. I got this with credit card reward points - had I paid for it, I would send it right back.

Well, I must say this is a very good digital picture frame even with the higher price. With its big 8" inch display, pictures show clean and clear. All you have to do is just plug in the wall adapter and put in a memory card and your set. With the extra memory built in, it's great to choose which pictures you want to be shown as well as how fast you want the slide show to be. The only down side was how long it took to get shipped. I ordered off of Brookstones website on Jan. 4, and it got here on Feb. 12. Other then that, if you want a great, big display digital picture frame, then this is a great option.

We got a CEIVA for our kid's grandmother, concept was great but the unit died two times and it takes weeks to get it repaired. Due to her age, she was not tech savvy so had to have someone else come over to work on it, pack and ship, reinstall, etc. Disappointing but was the only long distance photo option I could find - will be looking for a more reliable option.

Took a chance on this without any reviews because it had the features I wanted. Delighted. I wanted great pictures, sharp with brilliant color first and foremost. Second I wanted the "slide program" to work. Anything else was icing. The images are crisp and brilliant, even at an angle. There's a choice of the two common aspect ratios. Setup is intuitive, so like most I set it up first then read the manual, which is sparse anyway.
I've had a chance to see other frames working and we had a lot of traffic through here today. This is the richest image any of us have seen on one of these frames.
It also works with either the buttons on the back, or with the remote control. There are editing features, and it can connect to a printer through its USB port. Image color, brightness and saturation are adjustable.
OK, nothing's perfect. The sound is tinny and there isn't an external connection so you're stuck with it. Occasionally the slide show function changes display time or seems to hang for a bit. And occasionally an image won't display properly, but is OK the next time it cycles through.
I haven't figured out any way to sync mp3 files with a slide show and I suspect that can't be done, at least not inside this machine. To display on this, I'm going to have to create a slide show on the computer and convert it to MPEG format. It WILL simultaneously play one mp3 file and run the slide program, just no syncronization.
Again, the image quality and slide function are what I wanted to work. They do and I'm buying two more of these.

I bought this as a gift to my mother-in-law so she can load up her grandson's photos and not have to carry bulky photo albums in her purse, as she does today. The frame is a perfect purse size with a good quality display.
Unfortunately, the device does not have a good way to navigate through hundreds of photos it can store. There is a thumbnail view showing 4 on each row. In order to get to the photo #500 from, you have to push next button 499 times if you just turned it on. It doesn't save where you left off. There is no page up and down to speed up the browsing. So, if you loaded the frame to its max capacity and have SD card, be prepare to push next button many many times.
Another problem I had that the buttons were not very responsive. It may have been a malfunction on the device I received. When you have to push 500+ times to get to the last photo pushing on an unresponsive button it can be quite frustrating.

Just a warning: the item description is wrong, possibly got swapped with a different JWIN model: this model (JP118) has no video playback, only photos and MP3 music. Also the display quality is really grim, worse than I expected: very grainy and crude looking, even when photos are properly sized for the display (so the panel isn't performing any scaling). But I can't testify to how it compares to other screens in its price range, perhaps that's simply to be expected.

I jumped on this when Digital frames were just coming out, paid too much for it then, and the AC adapter did not work. Both a generic adapter and have forgotten everything else. I have 11 years of watching my kids grow up and it is inspirational.

Has anyone experienced the USB flash drive not being accessed by the frame when placed in? It's disappointing because the flash drive can hold more photos than the frame's memory. I am currently putting this all together as a Christmas present to Mom & Dad and I am very disappointed for the price I paid. I'm not a basic tech user so this is frustrating to me to have looked for this option in a digital photo frame and finding out that it was useless to begin with. If anyone has a solution, please let me know. Otherwise, the resolution is fine as long as the photos taken were at high res. It's easier to operate the menu with the remote. The side buttons were not much help.
